Leeds United fans have been reacting to the performance of Rodrigo during their opening game of the Premier League season against Manchester United.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are coming off the back of an incredible first season back in the Premier League, a campaign that saw them finish 9th in the table having taken the league by storm somewhat with their energetic style of play.

Can you remember where Leeds finished in these league seasons? First up: 2018/19

This campaign though got them off to a difficult start as they headed to Old Trafford to take on the Premier League runners-up from last season, and they didn’t get off to the best of starts as the Red Devils tore them apart to win the game 5-1.

One player who didn’t have the best of days was the Spanish midfielder, and there were plenty of fans who weren’t shy to hide their thoughts when it came to his performance, as they tore into him on social media. The 30-year-old was actually substituted at half-time, a sign perhaps that Bielsa agreed with their assessment of his performance:

“Rodrigo is an absolute passenger in Midifeld, when is Bielsa going to realise he’s a number 9 not a number 8”

“This game has passed Rodrigo by. He’s non-existent”
“Rodrigo has been off the pace so far, same with pre-season”
“Rodrigo may aswell not be on the pitch, needs to pull his socks up and get into the game”
“How much longer do I have to wait until our fan base finally admits that Rodrigo was a flop and not worth the 27m price we paid for him?”
“Rodrigo is useless hardly touched a ball, need to be replaced in my opinion.”

Luckily though this was only the first game of the season, there are 37 games left for him to put in plenty of good performances to make up for this one.
