Leeds United fans have been reacting to footage that emerged of youngster Sean McGurk during a friendly against Manchester City.

The U23 side continued their work in pre-season over the weekend with a comfortable 4-0 victory over their counterparts, with goals from Max Dean, Crysencio Summerville, and the aforementioned McGurk.

And although it was a City side that was not at full strength with a number of their players on duty at the Community Shield, that doesn’t mean that there weren’t a few moments to emerge from that game to leave a number of Leeds fans rather excited.

Can you remember where Leeds finished in these league seasons? First up: /19

One of them came through the final goal of the game which was scored by the 18-year-old McGurk, who only signed for the club this summer from League One side Wigan Athletic. His goal, which involved a nice run followed by some neat footwork inside the box, was relayed to fans online by @leedsutdacademy, where it left a number of them rather impressed:

“Great goal and assist”

“Beautiful the way he takes the ball maintaining the forward momentum. Doesn’t give the defender a chance to get back. Quality.”
“There’s a player full of talent. Had options in the box but trusts his ability to beat players and score.”
“See, when you see a goal like this, how he looks after the ball, doesn’t panic and finishes like that, you know this kid is going to probably make it at the top level”
“Done more than Costa already”
“Get him in the first team”
“What a goal this is from the first touch to the classy finish”

Will Leeds challenge for Europe this season?

While McGurk’s goal was undeniably impressive, whether or not it has impressed Marcelo Bielsa enough to make him think about introducing him to the first team is a different matter.
