Leeds United fans have reacted online to some new quotes given by the club’s enigmatic manager Marcelo Bielsa.
As reported in a thread of tweets by Phil Hay, the Leeds manager said he is ‘happy with the players I can count on‘ when asked about any news regarding a move for Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien.
There have been reports that O’Brien was close to signing for the Premier League club, but – as Hay explains – the quotes suggest Leeds may not be signing the midfielder after all.
The words offered by Bielsa quickly drew attention online and it didn’t take long before a number of the club’s faithful had their say on the topic.
What did these Leeds fans have to say?
“Hasn’t anyone asked if we have financial difficulties? Because this is worrying.”
It seems Leeds’ apparent lack of activity in the transfer market certainly has this selection of fans rather worried, with some even suggesting relegation may be on the cards.
It could also be argued that the opening-day hammering away at Manchester United has dampened the spirits of these supporters, which would be understandable. But with time still left before the window shuts, perhaps there is hope for the club’s fans yet.
