After a new contract was announced for one of the club’s key players, Leeds United fans celebrated in great numbers online.

Leeds officially announced the news that goalkeeper Illan Meslier has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The 21-year-old joined Leeds on loan in 2019 from Lorient, but is now set to play his football at Elland Road until the summer of 2026.

Flocking to the club’s Twitter account after they shared the update, these Leeds supporters were more than happy to express their delight.

Here’s what these Leeds fans had to say…

“Boys gonna be world-class.”

“That’s better than a signing.”

It’s clear to see just how happy these Leeds supporters are. And why wouldn’t they be? In his debut campaign in the English top flight, Meslier became the youngest ‘keeper to keep 10 clean sheets in the Premier League – breaking Joe Hart’s 13-year record.

The Frenchman should now start next season as the undisputed number-one, as the club look to improve on last year’s impressive 9th-placed finish.
