Leeds United journalist Conor McGilligan has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the Yorkshire club signing Noa Lang before the current summer transfer window deadline arrives.
This comes after McGilligan appeared in a recent video from the One Leeds Fan Channel on YouTube where he spoke about a variety of news topics concerning Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
After football journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that Leeds are not currently negotiating with Club Brugge over a potential transfer for Lang despite being linked with the winger, McGilligan had this to say on the situation.
He said: “It looks like it’s not going to be done unless there’s a massive turnaround, or unless there’s a Raphinha-esque turnaround in terms of negotiation.
“Where Leeds were last year is a completely different position to where we are now. Even if it was an opportunistic market and a deal became available for £20 million, I don’t think Leeds are in the financial position to be offering that anymore – this year, anyway – maybe next year, it will be completely different, but I just can’t see that happening.”
TIF Thoughts on Conor McGilligan’s comments on Lang and a potential move to Elland Road…
Taking into account what Romano said in his tweet and McGilligan’s own take on the situation, it seems unlikely that Lang will end up at Elland Road before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Do you think Leeds should have signed another winger by now?
Yes
No
In our view, given how Leeds currently have four wingers in their senior squad in the shape of Raphinha, Jack Harrison, Helder Costa and Ian Poveda, there is an argument that a new winger may not necessarily be needed at the moment.
However, with Poveda being recently linked with a loan move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers, perhaps the club are planning to replace him with a new winger, or even allow Crysencio Summerville to potentially become a more prominent member in Bielsa’s squad for this season.
Either way, it seems as though any prospect of Lang joining the club can be put to bed for now.
