Leeds United journalist Beren Cross believes Crysencio Summerville has been ‘catching the eye’ with a number of impressive performances of late.

Summerville has drawn plenty of praise for his performances in pre-season recently and has started to win the acclaim of a number of the club’s fans.

Earlier his week, the Dutch teenager scored in his first competitive appearance of the season for the Leeds Under-23 team, which has only added to the fervour growing around him.

While speaking on a Leeds United Live Facebook stream, Cross outlined why expectations seem to be growing with regard to Summerville.

Cross said: “Summerville just seems to be a bit of a runaway train at the moment. Ever since pre-season started, he’s been catching the eye with the second string in their friendlies during the summer.

“And then coming into this season, he goes to Selhurst Park in the first competitive game with the 23s campaign, and scores with a lovely first touch from a cross-field pass by Jack Jenkins and finishes quite assuredly.”

TIF Thoughts on Crysencio Summerville and Leeds United…

With Leeds’ limited action in the transfer window thus far, Marcelo Bielsa may have to resort to some alternative squad options as the season progresses.

Judging from these quotes, Summerville looks like a player who has the talent to potentially come in and possibly even leave his mark upon the first team.

The potential exit of Helder Costa – who has been linked with a move to Valencia – could also open a door for Summerville, though it is thought no formal bids have been received for the winger as of yet.

However, there is no doubting the potential of Summerville, and it would surely only be a matter of time before he emerges as an option for the senior side based on his effectiveness at youth level.
