He has endured a somewhat nomadic youth career, playing for Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona, Brentford and Manchester City at academy level before eventually deciding to make the move to Leeds.

And Wainman believes he is unlikely to ever force his way back in, as being loaned out is usually a sign that manager Marcelo Bielsa does not believe a player has the ability to play for the club, although it remains a possibility that he could impress while out on loan at Ewood Park.

He said: “I’d like it to be a success so that we could see more of our youth go out on loan, come back and get time in the first team.

“But under Bielsa, at this moment in time, going into his fourth season, it’s never been the case. So I’d be surprised if it is this time but we’ll have to wait and see.”
