Meslier joined the Whites on a permanent deal from French side Lorient last summer and went on to make 35 top flight appearances, keeping 11 clean sheets in the process, as Leeds comfortably staved off an immediate return to the Championship.
The 21-year-old’s impressive performances resulted in Leeds having to reject an approach from French giants Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.
Is Meslier worth £50m?
Meslier has also revealed his move to Elland Road was only made possible after turning down a switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea two years ago.
Leeds have been able to protect his value by tying him down to a new five-year contract earlier this month.
Former All Leeds TV anchorman Wainman believes Meslier’s age and the fact he now has a long-term deal means Marcelo Bielsa’s side can put a huge price tag on the goalkeeper to deter potential suitors.
He told TIF: “When Ben White went for £50million and Jack Grealish cost £100million, I said I would want at least £80million for Kalvin Phillips and I got laughed at. I think that’s the going rate.
“For a goalkeeper like Meslier, I would want £50million.”
