Presenter of the JustJoe Football Show, Joe Wainman, believes Manchester City will look to sign Kalvin Phillips if he continues to impress at Leeds United.

Phillips impressed in his first-ever Premier League campaign, featuring in 29 of Leeds’ encounters on their return to the top flight after a 16-year wait last season.

The central midfielder then went on to become a key player at international level earlier this summer as he started all of England’s fixtures as they reached the Euro 2020 final before being defeated by Italy on penalties.

Would Kalvin Phillips be a good signing for Man City?

Phillips’ impressive form resulted in Leeds bracing themselves for bids for the central midfielder, but they were handed a welcome boost when the 25-year-old’s agent confirmed he had no interest in departing Elland Road.

According to Tutto Juve, Phillips still has plenty of clubs tracking his progress. The report suggests Italian giants Juventus, along with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, remain interested.

Wainman believes City may come calling for Phillips if he maintains his fine form.

Nice easy one to start off with, what number does Phillips wear for Leeds United?

He told TIF: “Kalvin’s performances in the Euros were great. Do I think he could take on Fernandinho’s mantle at City? Yes.

“The money they could offer him on a weekly basis, just wage-wise, would probably be triple what he is getting at Leeds United. There will come a time when there are real worries.

“In two seasons’ time, if we’re not in Europe then big players will move on.”
