Leeds United’s Under-23s team ran out narrow 3-2 winners over Derby County on Friday evening, in what was a closely-fought battle between both teams.

The Whites fell behind in this one, as Osazee Aghatise opened the scoring after just 11 minutes, before Crysencio Summerville dew the scores level just eight minutes later.

The Rams went back in front after 24 minutes, as Connor Dixon scored their second of the game, before Sam Greenwood equalised for Leeds shortly before the half-time whistle.

First up in this 2020/21 LUFC quiz, which of these players did NOT score against Liverpool in the 4-3 defeat at Anfield?

Joe Gelhardt replaced Summerville at half-time, and certainly made a positive impact, as he scored the winner with 17 minutes remaining of the contest.

The 19-year-old signed for Leeds back in 2020 from Wigan Athletic, and will be hoping he can continue to impress with the club’s Under-23s team for the time being.

Plenty of the Elland Road faithful took to social media to react to the emerging footage of Gelhardt’s winner against Derby County on Friday, with a number of them being impressed.

It remains to be seen as to whether Gelhardt will feature for Leeds’ first-team anytime soon this season, with Marcelo Bielsa already having some strong options available to him, but the striker is certainly showing he’s got the potential to make his mark on the first-team sooner rather than later.

It’s no surprise that fans seem to be so excited about Gelhardt.

In other news, a number of Leeds fans have reacted to Phil Hay’s update on the team news ahead of that clash against the Clarets.
