Leeds United’s Under-23s team bounced back from defeat to Tottenham Hotspur with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Derby County on Friday evening.
The Whites didn’t make the ideal start to this one though, with Osazee Aghatise opening the scoring after 11 minutes. But Crysencio Summerville equalised in stunning fashion, as the winger rode a number of challenges, before showing an impressive turn of pace and slamming the ball home clinically past Harrison Foulkes in the Derby goal.
Connor Dixon then put the Rams back in front shortly after, before Sam Greenwood levelled the scores once again with 11 minutes remaining in the first-half.
Joe Gelhardt then fired home the winner with 17 minutes remaining of the contest, as they took an all-important three points back to Yorkshire.
Summerville’s performance caught the eye in the win over Derby, and a number of supporters were calling for him to be involved in Leeds’ first-team in the near future, especially after seeing his goal against the Rams on Friday evening.
Plenty of Leeds United supporters took to social media to issue their thoughts on Summerville’s recent goal, and it’s safe to say that the majority were impressed with what they saw from the youngster.
What did Leeds United fans make of Summerville’s display?
“Better than Costa!”
“Get him in the first team.”
“I’d literally rather see this guy play in the Premier League this season than play costa. Let Summerville get the PL experience he needs than bringing on costa. Might be too early to say but we don’t need Lang when we’ve got this beauty.”
“Get him in the first team now…..”
“Give this man his first team debut already.”
“Said it before and will say it again. Summerville>Costa.”
“What a player he is.”
“Get him in on Sunday ahead of costa plz”
Get that lad in the first team miles better then costa
Class player, get him in the mix with the 1st team
Leeds’ first-team boss Marcelo Bielsa already has a number of strong options available to him in his senior squad, so it seems as though Summerville will have to remain patient for first-team opportunities at this moment in time.
But there’s no questioning that Whites fans feel Summerville has got the X-factor to make his mark, and are raving about the impact he could make ahead of the likes of established first-team stars like Helder Costa.
In other news, plenty of Leeds fans have reacted to Phil Hay’s update on the latest team news ahead of their clash with Burnley this weekend.
