Marcus Bent believes Jesse Lingard would be interested in joining Everton if his opportunities at Manchester United are limited.
Lingard enjoyed an impressive second half of last season after joining West Ham United on loan. He scored nine goals and contributed five assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers.
Fresh from racking up the club’s highest-ever Premier League points tally, which was enough to secure Europa League football for the upcoming season, West Ham boss David Moyes quickly turned his attentions towards securing Lingard’s services on a permanent basis.
Would Jesse Lingard be interested in a move to Everton?
Yes
No
However, reports suggest the east Londoners now feel they only have a 10 per cent chance of sealing Lingard’s return to London Stadium.
Everton have joined the race to sign Lingard, with new boss Rafa Benitez keen to boost his options in attacking positions.
The 28-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his £75,000-per-week contract at Old Trafford and, with the Toffees’ stadium plans, former Everton striker Bent feels it would be the perfect time for Lingard to head to Merseyside.
Speaking exclusively to TIF, he said: “What a player Jesse Lingard is. The problem is his wages and whether Everton could attract him, but I think they could with the new stadium.”
