Carlton Palmer has rubbished claims that Liverpool could sign exciting West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen enjoyed an impressive season as he played a key role in the Hammers achieving a club-record Premier League points tally to secure Europa League football for the upcoming campaign.
The 24-year-old scored eight goals and contributed six assists in 40 appearances last term.
Should Liverpool sign Jarrod Bowen?
Yes
No
His impressive form has led to reports that Liverpool are interested in signing the winger.
Bowen joined West Ham from Championship side Hull City in a deal believed to be worth more than £20million a year-and-a-half ago.
Since then, Bowen has gone on to become a fan favourite at the London Stadium but a move would see the ex-Hereford United man provide cover for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s first choice forward line of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
However, Palmer sees no reason why West Ham boss David Moyes would be willing to sanction a switch.
Speaking exclusively to TIF, he said: “There’s always going to be speculation but why would West Ham let a player who played 40 games in all competitions and is developing leave?
“They’re trying to push on and not go backwards. Neither for West Ham nor the player would it make sense.
“I just can’t see West Ham or David Moyes letting a player like that go. I think he’s looking to add to his squad rather than weaken it.”
