Serie A expert Conor Clancy thinks Everton could sign centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly if they can match Napoli’s asking price for the Senegal international.

Koulibaly’s name has often been linked with Europe’s elite clubs having gained a high profile during his seven years in Naples.

In fact, back in 2019, former Everton and Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti described him as the best centre-back in the world.

However, having turned 30 last month, the defender might have missed his opportunity to reach his full potential and get his move to one of the world’s top sides.

But a switch to the Premier League might not be completely out of the question, although Everton would need to pay Napoli’s £43m asking price for Koulibaly, who’s made more than 200 Serie A appearances over the last seven seasons, as well as 46 caps for Senegal.

Rafa Benitez has several centre-backs at his disposal, but Everton couldn’t find a settle pairing last term, whilst Yerry Mina wants to leave, which could open the door for Koulibaly.

Asked whether Everton is a possibility, Clancy told This is Futbol:

“Everyone in Italy is for sale, even when their club say they’re not, because that’s just how Italian football works.

“If Everton were to throw money at that, and I’m not sure Everton have the money to throw, but Koulibaly would be sellable.”
