Football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his latest Twitch stream to discuss all things transfer-related.

Everton have signed four players this summer, however, three of those players have arrived on a free transfer and are of the age of 30 and over (via Transfermarkt).

The one player who Rafael Benitez’s side has splashed some cash on came in the form of Demarai Gray from Bayer Leverkusen for £1.8m.

Benitez’s side have made an impressive start to the new Premier League campaign with four points from a possible six after beating Southampton on the opening day and then drawing away to Leeds United.

Discussing whether the Merseyside club can expect any more arrivals at Goodison Park this summer, Romano had the following to say.

“It is still quiet. We will see in the coming days, something will happen, don’t worry.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton’s summer…

Having only spent £1.8m this summer, the Toffees could be viewed as operating shrewdly in the early stages of this summer’s transfer market.

However, they have not kicked on from there, with no more players coming through the door since then.

The future of James Rodriguez is still under speculation, and if he does leave without an adequate replacement, then we would feel Everton’s side would be worse off after this summer’s transfer window.

So perhaps this is the ‘something’ Romano hinted at, but either way, there seems to be confidence that there will be activity at Goodison Park before the end of the window. Therefore, there is every chance the Toffees’ promising start to the campaign could continue if they can find the right addition.
