On the latest episode of The Athletic Football Podcast, journalist David Ornstein has been speaking about a potential summer arrival at Crystal Palace.

It is believed the Eagles are looking to add to their attack in the final week of the transfer window, with Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah thought to be one of their targets.

Would Nketiah be a good signing for Crystal Palace?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, there is said to be a difference in the valuation of the 21-year-old between the two London clubs, with the Gunners said to be holding out for a bid in the region of £20m.

The Eagles have had a shaky start to the season under their new manager Patrick Vieira with just one point on the board and no goals to their name.

Speaking about potential departures at Arsenal this summer, Ornstein discussed the details of the proposal put forward by the Eagles for Arsenal’s young striker.

“Crystal Palace, who are the team interested in taking him – or one of the teams but most sort of intensely right now. They’re prepared for what’s sort of described to me as a £10m, take-it-or-leave-it type offer Arsenal well-documented to want £20m for him.

“Of course, Patrick Vieira is still looking to strengthen his Palace side. They’ve already made a load of signings.

“They’ve faced the same two teams that Arsenal did in their first two games, losing to Chelsea, they drew with Brentford, but they also haven’t scored a goal, so that’ll be an interesting one to watch.”

TIF Thoughts on Cyrstal Palace’s start to the season…

It has certainly not been the start to the new campaign that Palace fans will have hoped for, however, it may have been the one many were expecting.

The Eagles faced a difficult start to the season with a trip to the European champions and then followed up by the newly-promoted Brentford at Selhurst Park.

And it will not get any easier for Vieira’s men as they face a trip to play the side who sit top of the league, West Ham United.

If the Eagles do go another game without a win or even without a goal then there will certainly be huge pressure growing on their French manager to correct their poor start.
