Midlands journalist Luke Hatfield can see Sam Johnstone signing a new contract at West Bromwich Albion, although he believes there will be a huge caveat to any deal.
Johnstone has been repeatedly linked away from the Baggies throughout the summer after their relegation from the Premier League.
He was linked with a potential move to West Ham United before they ultimately signed Alphonse Areola on loan from PSG.

Since then, the rumours have gone somewhat quiet, and it appears that Johnstone will be staying with the club in the second-tier.
He had made three appearances this season going into the weekend, only missing one fixture in the Championship, on the opening weekend against AFC Bournemouth.
The Baggies have been good with Johnstone in the side, beating Luton Town, Sheffield United, and Blackburn Rovers.
And Hatfield thinks he may well put pen to paper to confirm his staying at the Hawthorns, although he has made the prediction that it will likely include a release clause that a Premier League can meet if they want to sign the goalkeeper.
He said: “There may well be a case of sign a new deal, but include a release clause, so maybe he’ll protect himself in that respect if a big club does come in for him.”
