Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest claim to emerge concerning Charlie Cresswell.

This comes after @leedsutdacademy shared a post relaying news originally tweeted by journalist Ross Heppenstall.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

Heppenstall claimed that Leeds want Cresswell to “continue developing at Elland Road and are set to offer him a new deal” after reportedly rejecting a loan offer from Sunderland for the defender.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts and feelings on this latest claim.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to this claim about Cresswell?

This is great news, he just looks like the future @LUFC captain #lufc #alaw #mot Hopefully getting his hands on even more trophies…”

@Tolhaller

Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Leeds fans think that the club should definitely offer the player a long-term deal to keep him at the Yorkshire club for the foreseeable future.

Do you think Charlie Cresswell is ready to play senior football at Leeds?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, if Leeds have chosen not to send Cresswell out on loan, this says to us that they have plans to start to integrate him into their senior side, which would be a good way of developing him under Marcelo Bielsa considering he’s only made one senior appearance for them so far.

Moving forward, if Cresswell does get offered a long-term deal at Elland Road, he should definitely start to get some senior minutes under his belt so he can show everyone why the club wanted to keep hold of him.
