Former Leeds United star David Norris insists there is next to no chance of Kalvin Phillips leaving the club this summer.

The midfielder enjoyed a spectacular Euro 2020, forging a key partnership with Declan Rice in England’s midfield as Gareth Southgate’s side reached the final of the competition.

Phillips has subsequently been touted for an exit by various pundits, with Dimitar Berbatov imploring Manchester United to make a move to take him to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old has come through the ranks at Leeds and has made a total of 211 appearances for the club, helping them out of the Championship and back into the Premier League.

He has also become an integral part of Southgate’s squad, winning 15 caps, and Norris is insistent that he will not be going anywhere this summer amid links away.

Indeed, he does not believe that Leeds are under pressure to sell Phillips, having returned to the big time, and thinks it would take a “ridiculous” fee for him to be allowed to make a transfer.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, Norris said: “I can’t see that. They don’t want to sell, more importantly, they don’t need to sell and so it’s going to take a ridiculous transfer fee.

“I just think at this stage, with him getting better and better, and more of a reputation, I would like to see him, and I think he will, stay at Leeds for another season. Then we’ll see where he’s at then, and how much more he’s developed and what type of teams are coming in, but as it stands I can’t see it happening this summer.”
