According to The Athletic, Spurs are closing in on the signing of Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu with the two clubs finalising the last details of the deal.
The report also suggests the deal for the 22-year-old Japanese centre-back will be worth in the region of £15m.
This latest development follows previous claims from journalist Fabrizio Romano that Spurs were ‘leading the race‘ for Tomiyasu.
Manchester United were believed to be admirers of Tomiyasu, but he was not on their list of main targets for this summer. Tottenham, meanwhile, have been long-term fans of the Bologna defender.
What exactly did these Spurs fans have to say?
“I love this deal. Great start.”
The report from The Athletic also states Spurs are looking to offload some of their current defenders in the form of Serge Aurier and Davinson Sanchez.
The reaction of these Spurs fans shows they will be delighted if the club can confirm their first signing of the summer window with the arrival of Tomiyasu as they look to overhaul their defence.
However, given that others had previously blasted the attempts to bring the Japan international in, it may be the case that Tomiyasu will have to win over the fanbase as a whole through his performances should his move be confirmed.
