Sunderland fans have been reacting to the latest news and rumours surrounding the Black Cats as it was confirmed that Chris Maguire would leave the club following the expiry of his contract.

This follows an Instagram post from the forward, who thanked Sunderland for his three-year stay at the club. This was then shared on Twitter by Sunderland’s official Twitter account, wishing Maguire the best for the future.

Fans were quick to respond to the news…

Judging by the replies, Sunderland fans are gutted to see the back of Maguire.

The Scot signed for Sunderland from Bury in 2018. Since signing for the Black Cats, Maguire appeared 124 times in all competitions, scoring 28 goals and providing 26 assists, but was restricted to mainly substitute appearances last season, appearing 34 times in League One for Sunderland but being in the starting XI on just 12 occasions.

As a former Scottish international, with two appearances for his country, Maguire could be an excellent addition for several clubs in the EFL if these negative reactions to his departure are anything to go by.
