A whole host of Sunderland fans have flocked to the club’s official Twitter account as it’s been announced that goalkeeping coach Lee Butler has left the club to join Wrexham.

Butler was brought in during Phil Parkinson’s tenure at the Stadium of Light and he has followed the manager to National League side Wrexham.

Will Sunderland earn promotion this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Sunderland will be looking to rebuild and go again next season after failing to clinch promotion via the play-offs for the second time in three seasons under two different managers. The Black Cats’ defensive solidity was a huge reason behind their promotion push as they conceded just 42 times in the league, the 3rd best record in the division.

This didn’t stop many Sunderland fans from flocking to the club’s tweet and taking the news of Butler leaving rather well.

What have these Sunderland fans been saying?

“Good. He was one of Parkys staff. Get him gone”

“What’s going on at the club…”

@samthubron3

“One of Parkys followed to Wrexham. Anything that resembles parky ball should’ve been kicked out a looonnnggg time ago”

Sunderland are now set to embark on their fourth season in League One and will be looking to get it right this season with a new manager and owner at the club.

An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

The new owners and Lee Johnson may want to freshen up more than just the squad so allowing someone like the 55-year old to leave could be perceived as a good thing for Sunderland.
