Sunderland fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer news to emerge regarding Nottingham Forest right-back Jordan Gabriel.

This comes after Sunderland journalist Matty Hewitt shared a post on his official Twitter page that contained an article from Chronicle Live.

The article cites Nottinghamshire Live, which states that Forest have set a price tag of £600k for Gabriel, who has reportedly attracted interest from the Black Cats as well as Portsmouth and Blackpool, where the defender spent the previous season on loan.

This post from Hewitt then quickly grabbed the attention of a lot of Sunderland supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this claim.

So, what did these Sunderland fans have to say in response to this post about Gabriel?

HA’WAY MAN @SunderlandAFC. If we’re willing to pay over a mil for a league 2 player, surely we can afford £600k for him! #SAFC

@lewygsafc

“Just pay it, I beg”

@KINGMAGUIRE_

“I’d be all over this for that money however I don’t have a Scooby what players KLD and his crew are actually biding their time for?!?!”

@Fantanafest73

“If we can’t afford 600 grand they may as well just close the doors and put a lock on the gates”

@markbol1972

Please #safc, just pay it. I’d like us to have at least one full-back come the start of the season”

@joel_gradwell

I know Forest apparently only have one RB right now but the fact I’ve seen a few of their fans disappointed with that price tag suggests to me that #SAFC should be all over this. But we don’t seem to do common sense”

@MichaelBowers15

Looking at the replies to this post from Hewitt, it seems as though these Sunderland fans would be happy to see their club spend this reported fee to secure Gabriel this summer.

Do you think Sunderland should sign Gabriel this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, if Sunderland have the funds available to pay this reported fee for Gabriel that Forest are apparently after, then they should definitely try and add him to their ranks this summer because they currently only have Luke O’Nien in their squad who has predominantly played at right-back, so adding Gabriel as a back-up option or even as competition could be a good bit of business from the Black Cats.
