Lots of Sunderland fans have been talking about the latest tweet from the club that emerged on social media.

The official Sunderland Twitter account recently confirmed that Oliver Younger has now signed a new one-year deal with the Black Cats, with the club having the option to extend it for another year.

An article on the club’s website carried some quotes from Younger, stating that he wants to continue developing at Sunderland and he’s hoping to earn more opportunities.

The club’s tweet drew the attention of many Sunderland fans, who were talking about the news.

These Sunderland fans are quite happy about this news and they’re delighted about this news update.

Younger is still only 21 and he had briefly broken into the club’s first team during the 2020/21 season, playing once in League One. He has played for the club’s Under-23s side already too, so he’s clearly rooted into the club’s system.

Sunderland do have a fair share of centre-back options in the side, but the fact that Younger can also play at right-back can make him a squad option – especially considering that Luke O’Nien is the club’s only out-and-out right-back option at present, so this is perhaps an important extension from the club.
