Michael Ball has exclusively told This is Futbol that Andros Townsend ticks all of the boxes for Rangers.

Steven Gerrard is looking to strengthen his squad as he prepares for his Gers side to defend their Scottish Premiership title.

Will Rangers win the league this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

And Townsend is now available on a free transfer following his release from Crystal Palace after five seasons and almost 200 appearances in all competitions.

The former Tottenham wide man, who’s played 243 times in the Premier League for four different clubs, was asked about his future when on talkSPORT recently and whether he would consider a move to the Scottish Premiership – and responded by saying that he’s open to everything.

Tore André Flo is Rangers club-record signing, but how much was he bought for?

Should Townsend move north of the border, he would have the opportunity to play in the Champions League for the first time in his career having previously only played in the Europa League at Spurs.

Townsend not only has a proven assist record for Palace, but he’s capable of the spectacular – epitomised by his stunning goal of the season against Manchester City back in December 2018.

With that in mind, Ball told This is Futbol that he would be a good addition for the Gers:

“Players like Andros Townsend, seems to tick all of the boxes.

“He went on loan a lot and has played lower down and played against difficult opposition, difficult pitches, so he ticks all of the boxes for me.

“Yes, he could turn up against Celtic, but against Kilmarnock away he would know how to put in a performance as well.”
