A lot of Celtic fans have been revelling on Twitter at the fact they appear set to sell Kristoffer Ajer to Brentford.

Reports have started to circulate that Celtic are set to sell Ajer to newly-promoted Brentford, with the Bees willing to pay £13.5 million for the defender, who will be out of contract next summer.

Will Celtic regret selling Ajer?

No!

Ajer was not short of suitors this summer, with fellow promoted side Norwich City reportedly interested in him, as well as cash-strapped Newcastle United.

A whole host of Celtic fans took to Twitter to show their delight over the money the club could be set to receive for the 23-year-old.

What have these Celtic fans had to say?

“I think this is fantastic for Celtic. Great deal and sends a message to the rest of the EPL that they can’t get our players for buttons, regardless of the length of the deal”

@hailhail_88

“Can’t complain as going into final year of contract. As long as there is a sell-on clause as well in there.”

@phford40

“Good business by the club, held out for a better offer for a player that wants to leave. Happy all round for this. Just replace him please”

@peteyhughes95

“That’s a phenomenal bit of business. With that being said, no fan has ever questioned Celtic’s ability to sell. It’s our reluctance to spend the profits that put our nose out of joint.”

@PaulJamesNangle

“Unreal business this is. Pending reasonable reinvestment for his position”

@padferran_

“Delighted with this. He certainly won’t help keep them up if he’s being asked to defend”

@ORebily

“Outstanding if true”

@mcaneneys

Adding a player like Ajer to Brentford’s side is a smart move from the Bees, with Ajer not only an in-demand defender, but a threat in the opposition’s box as well, with two goals and three assists last season.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Celtic fans will be hoping that the money is reinvested into the squad after they fell way short of challenging their rivals Rangers for the SPFL title last season.
