Lots of Celtic fans have been talking about a news update regarding the future of Vasilis Barkas.
Journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has recently tweeted about the future of Barkas and he claimed that the goalkeeper will not be loaned out by the club this summer and he now appears to be Celtic’s number one goalkeeper, following appearances against Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic in their recent friendlies.
Does Barkas deserve another chance?
Yes
No
Barkas had only joined Celtic from AEK Athens last summer, but there had been rumours of interest from PAOK some months ago.
The update from Chorianopoulos was relayed on Twitter by Everything Celtic. Many Bhoys fans made their views clear about this news.

Barkas was never a regular for the Bhoys in the 2020/21 campaign and the Hoops actually used three different goalkeepers in one league season. It shows that the goalkeeping situation was unstable in general last season.
But since the club spent a significant fee on Barkas, they can’t afford to not give him a chance to prove himself. So their best chance of getting a future profit out of the deal is to keep him at the club and give him a regular chance in the 2021/22 campaign. So to keep him is the right call.
