Many Celtic fans have been talking about an update involving Peter Lawwell that emerged on social media.
Celtic-focused page Celtic Underground recently posted a screenshot that notified there has been activity at Celtic via Companies House, as the exit of Peter Lawwell was formally confirmed. Celtic Underground’s tweet said: “And now, the end is near.”
Has Lawwell been a good CEO?
Yes
No
The tweet involving this image drew the attention of many Celtic fans, who were talking about Lawwell and his exit from the club.
What did Celtic fans make of this image?
“The Ten was to be his place in the history of the club and I genuinely believe he had planned & prepared for that for at least 5 years. Errors, tragically & of Shakespearean proportion, were made &, as they say, the rest is history.“
“Given that there has only ever been 5 CEOs in Celtic’s history and he’s been there longer than the other 4 combined, you’d be right. He probably is one of the best.”
These Celtic fans are giving their views about Lawwell and some of them are happy that Lawwell is leaving the club.
Lawwell had been the club’s CEO since 2003 and during his time, the Hoops won nine titles in a row and while they couldn’t win the tenth title in a row in the 2020/21 campaign, most of those nine titles were won when Rangers weren’t even in the Scottish top flight.
So things could’ve been different if Rangers had been in the Premiership all along and this arguably makes it tough to judge Lawwell’s time as CEO.
