Journalist Alasdair Gold has recently revealed some details about Celtic’s move for Spurs goalkeeper Joe Hart.

It has been stated that Celtic are now close to signing Hart from Spurs, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that an agreement between the two clubs is now close. Spurs are said to be open to letting the Englishman leave.

Gold was talking about the situation of Hart on the latest Tottenham video by Football.London. The journalist stated that the move is certainly edging closer and while Celtic did have some hesitation initially, Parkhead looks to be his next destination this summer.

He stated: “Looks like that’s going to happen now, looks like Celtic is going to be where he’s heading off to. He was told, I think it was just before the Colchester game, that he wasn’t in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for the coming season. That’s that, really.

“The difficulty, I think, for Celtic initially was certainly trying to cover his contract. I think there was a little bit of reluctance maybe, having just moved down south, to then suddenly uproot the family again and go back up. But it sounds like those bridges look to have been covered. It looks like Celtic’s going to be his destination.”

TIF Thoughts on Hart to Celtic…

The Hoops failed to sign Fraser Forster last summer as the Englishman preferred to stay at Southampton instead of returning to Parkhead. As a result, the Hoops used as many as three different goalkeepers last season after new signing Vasilis Barkas was unable to nail down a starting spot, causing instability in that position.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

And already this season, they’ve used two different goalkeepers in their two games in the Champions League qualifiers, which shows that the instability is still there. Having an experienced professional like Hart between the sticks could make sure that there is one regular first-choice, and perhaps that will help them get rid of their issues in that area.
