Former football agent William Glavin has recently tipped David Turnbull to achieve success at Celtic.

Turnbull joined Celtic from Motherwell in the summer of 2020, some 14 months after a previous move to Parkhead had fallen through. In the 2020/21 campaign, Turnbull won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award.

Glavin appeared on the latest episode of the Celtic Now and Forever podcast and he talked about multiple issues involving the Bhoys. One topic of discussion was Turnbull and his future at the club.

Will next season be Turnbull's last at Celtic?

The agent believes that if Turnbull stays fit, he’ll have a really good season for the Bhoys in the upcoming campaign.

He said: “I’ve always liked David Turnbull from when I saw him play for the Motherwell reserves and then he obviously progressed into the Motherwell first team. He’s got everything about him technically. He’s still got a lot to learn, I think.

“Him going to that tournament [Euro 2020], obviously didn’t feature an awful lot, but just being around about the squad, training every day and things like that and being around the tournament, he’d have got a real lift from that, and a good bit of experience behind him. So I’m pretty sure he’ll push on and as long as he stays fit, I think he’ll have a really good season for us this year.”

TIF Thoughts on Turnbull…

In the 2020/21 campaign, Turnbull played 35 games in all competitions for the Bhoys, directly contributing to 17 goals for the club.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

It shows that he’s already making an impact at Parkhead, and the fact that Aston Villa are interested in him shows that Turnbull is already catching the attention of other clubs.

If he carries on this level of performance next season, his stock will rise further, and considering that Celtic have sold many of their prized assets in recent years, even Turnbull might head to the exit door at some point.

Therefore, given his age and the promise hyped up by Glavin, it appears that the most Celtic could make out of Turnbull’s development is for him to flourish with a view to warranting a hefty transfer fee in the future.
