Lots of Celtic fans have been talking about the latest tweet from the club that emerged on social media recently.
The official Celtic Twitter account recently tweeted about the exits of Mohamed Elyounoussi, Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny, following the end of their loan agreements.
Was Kenny the worst Celtic player in recent memory?
“Jonjoe Kenny – One of the worst full-backs we’ve ever had. Every Scottish Premier League side had a far superior player in that position. That’s how bad our recruitment was last season.“
“Thank you to the 3 of them. Right not to sign any of them. Just not good enough. Laxalt, may be a player in there, but lacking defensively. Kenny, just not at the standard needed, nit his fault, just poor recruitment. Moi, stats flatter to deceive. Went missing often.”
“I would question why the club contracted them for a month beyond the end of the season. None made memorable contributions, unfortunately. Passengers for the most part.“
These Celtic fans are fuming, particularly at Kenny, and one fan believes that he proved to be one of the worst players in the club’s history.
In January, the Hoops had sold Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen. On top of that, Hatem Abd Elhamed also returned to Israel. So they lost two right-back options in quick succession and another player was probably desperately needed for the rest of the season.
Because of that, it could be argued that Kenny was a panic buy and Celtic should learn their lessons in terms of recruitment and do better.
