Celtic fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news to emerge concerning Hoops striker Leigh Griffiths.

This comes after Radio Clyde News shared a post on their official Twitter page revealing that Griffiths “has been cleared by police over claims he sent ‘inappropriate messages’ to a girl under the age of 16,” after reports emerged claiming that the striker had allegedly been sending messages to underage girls on social media.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

This post then quickly caught the attention of a lot of Hoops supporters, who were quick to air their thoughts and feelings on this news.

So, what did these Celtic fans have to say about Griffiths and this latest news?

“He’s not getting cleared by me. Has to go.”

@eddieclarke2

“Still gotta get him far from the club as possible”

@seanie_bhoy

“This guy has been nothing but trouble since the day we signed him. If it’s not one thing it’s another. A fantastic footballer on his day but not worth the baggage and headlines that go along with it. Get him as far away from the club as possible.”

@PhantomBurners

“Make no mistake I don’t want to see him in a Celtic top again”

@FKickboxer

“Better never be seen in a Celtic shirt again”

@DeclanQ33714202

“Regardless of whether he has been found not guilty, he doesn’t deserve to be at the club”

@Dillatron95

Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Celtic fans don’t think Griffiths should continue at the club regardless of him being cleared of any criminality over the claims made against him.

Do you think Celtic should get rid of Leigh Griffiths?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the striker has had his Celtic future called into question in the past over his fitness, perhaps this latest controversy could well force the club into letting him go this summer, as these responding fans seemingly want to see.

In our view, it seems as though the club has a decision to make over whether or not they want Griffiths to continue at Parkhead or if they think washing their hands of him would be the best option for the club and only time will tell what will happen with the striker.
