It was previously reported that Celtic will have to fight out for Soppy in a race that also includes Watford and Udinese.

The news about Lille’s interest in Soppy drew the attention of many Celtic fans after it was relayed on Twitter by Everything Celtic. Fans began talking about this update, with many unhappy at claims the club are engaged in a ‘waiting game‘ over getting a deal over the line.

What did Celtic fans make of this news?

“Every year this carry on. Absolutely baffling giving it backfires massively every time. When will it dawn on the board that getting these players in, paying the money gives us the better chance of doing well in Europe? Drives me nuts.”

“Just typical of our board waiting this is what had got us into this problem waiting and doing nothing.”

“It wouldn’t be like Celtic to be “playing a waiting game” for our top target in a position we have no cover for and have needed to recruit in for five months, would it?

“Another transfer that’s a waiting game for Celtic. That old chestnut. May as well forget about this signing now.”

These Celtic fans are fuming at this news and they want their club to sign Soppy as soon as possible.

As things stand, Celtic do have Anthony Ralston and Lee O’Connor as right-back options, but Ralston was barely a regular for the Bhoys last season, while O’Connor is yet to play for the club’s senior side.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

So the Hoops need more reliable options at right-back and they could do with a player who has the experience of playing in a major European league may not be a bad addition. Soppy can be that player and because of that, the Hoops should move for him quickly.
