Many Celtic supporters have been talking about a news update regarding Sacha Boey that emerged on social media.

French outlet L’Equipe has recently provided an update regarding Celtic’s chase of Boey, claiming that the defender has turned down approaches from the Hoops because he has objections over the presence of foreign intermediaries in the deal.

This comes after it was reported some days ago that the Hoops were in talks to sign the Frenchman and it was stated that talks between Rennes and Celtic were indeed ongoing.

The latest update was relayed on Twitter by Get French Football News and many Celtic fans began talking about it.

What did Celtic fans make of this news?

“So whoever Celtic sent to negotiate the player disliked in other words.. shambles.. since Frimpong left we’ve known we need a RB since January.”

These Celtic fans are clearly frustrated about this news and they are angry that the move has now seemingly fallen through.

While the nature of the deal falling through does sound quite unique, Celtic may kick themselves if they let Boey slip through their fingers. The 20-year-old was a regular at Dijon in his loan spell last season, while for Rennes, he has appeared sporadically for their first team in the past.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Elsewhere, Celtic have been linked with a move for Brandon Soppy, although the Frenchman isn’t as experienced as Boey – despite both players being of a similar age.

So to miss out on Boey might be a blow to the Bhoys and they might now have to settle for signing Soppy.
