Image for Celtic: Fans flock to image involving Vasilis Barkas

Many Celtic fans have been talking about an image involving Vasilis Barkas that emerged on social media.

Barkas was initially expected to feature for Celtic in their pre-season friendly against Bristol City, but the Greek goalkeeper was replaced before kick-off by Scott Bain.

He had sustained an injury during the warm-up and the Hoops are now facing a nervous wait to find out whether he’ll be fit to take on Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifiers. The game against Bristol City ended goalless.

Both Barkas and Bain had grabbed a lower WhoScored rating than third-choice Conor Hazard last season, which shows that Celtic’s goalkeepers weren’t up to standard last year.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Barkas, it has been reported, isn’t going to leave the club this summer and is reportedly settled as the club’s regular goalkeeper. This shows that Ange Postecoglou perhaps trusts the Greek as his No 1 and he might be willing to give him an extended run in the team.

So keeping that in mind, Celtic should be hoping that Barkas is fit soon and he features against Midtjylland next week.
