Lots of Celtic fans have been discussing a news update about Aaron Mooy that emerged on social media.
The Daily Record has recently reported that Ange Postecoglou wants to bring Mooy to Parkhead after having made Osaze Urhoghide his first signing of the summer. The Australian is high up on Postecoglou’s shortlist, but the Celtic boss would have to persuade the midfielder to take a wage cut from what he currently earns at Shanghai Port.
Can Celtic afford to sign Mooy?
This news about Celtic’s interest in Mooy was relayed on Twitter by The Daily Record. Many Hoops fans made their views clear about this.
What did Celtic fans make of this news about Mooy?
“This guy is probably on mega money in the Chinese Super League this will be hard to get this guy in. Hopefully he signs was a class player in the Prem with Brighton.”
“Would be a great signing but he’s on £97k a week.”
“Huge chance. Wants out of China to be with Scottish wife.”
Mooy has proven experience of plying his trade in the English Premier League, where he played for Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town. For the Seagulls, he played 32 times, while Mooy played 120 games in all competitions for the Terriers.
He is a central midfielder by trade, and can also play as an attacking midfielder. Olivier Ntcham could yet leave Celtic and this would leave the Hoops with limited midfield options. Mooy would add depth to that part of the pitch and he’ll also bring experience to the table.
He has also played quite a few times under Postecoglou for Australia, where he assisted quite regularly. So if the midfielder can take a pay cut, this could be a good move for Celtic.
