The 19-year-old racked up nine appearances in Ligue 1 over the course of the 2020/21 campaign and featured in two of their Champions League group stage games (via Transfermarkt).

According to the Daily Record, Soppy could be available for a fee of around £4m and the French side may opt to sell the youngster this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.

Discussing the Frenchman’s future, Romano had the following to say on the matter.

“Brandon Soppy is an interesting right-back. A really good player born in 2002 and he’s really interesting. I love this player, I’m sure he will be one of the next-generation talents from Rennes.

“Celtic want him, they have an interest. Also, French clubs are working on it but Celtic have a strong interest in Soppy and we will see how it develops.”

TIF Thoughts on Celtic’s summer business…

After a prolonged search, the Hoops eventually announced their new manager in Ange Postecoglou as the Bhoys look to take back the Scottish crown after Rangers denied them a tenth successive Scottish Premiership title.

However, we feel if Celtic are to bounce back under the Australian, then it would be beneficial if they can sign players as soon as possible as they look to rebuild their squad.

Celtic will be without Jonjoe Kenny, who has returned to Everton after his short-term loan at Parkhead, so Soppy could be a long-term fix at right-back for Postecoglou’s side if they can pull this move off.
