Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his latest Twitch stream to discuss all things transfer related.

One name which was mentioned by the transfer insider was that of Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

The Portuguese shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a potential summer switch to Serie A club AS Roma, with new boss Jose Mourinho looking to bring in a new goalkeeper.

Romano revealed a potential deal for the 33-year-old is edging closer to completion and could be announced before the end of the week.

Discussing the details of a possible deal for the Wolves goalkeeper, Romano had the following to say on the matter.

“And also they are going to sign their first new player, [who] will be Rui Patricio from Wolverhampton.

“So Rui Patricio will be joining Roma in the coming days for around €10m with add-ons from Wolverhampton, but it’s almost a done deal.”

TIF Thoughts on Patricio’s potential move…

Patricio is now 33 years old and it could be seen as his last shot at a ‘big’ move away from the Premier League side.

The £9m-rated goalkeeper has been at Molineux for three years after joining in 2018 from Sporting in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £16.2m and has racked up 127 appearances in that time (via Transfermarkt).

A possible move for Patricio will leave Wolves looking for a new first-choice goalkeeper, however, they have already been linked with a potential summer swoop for England and Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
