Michail Antonio was the man who led the line last season, but with added Europa League games next season, the Hammers will need to increase their squad depth and according to Claret and Hugh, Moyes has narrowed his striker search down to Abraham or Slavia Prague forward Abdallah Sima.
Will West Ham back Moyes this summer?
The Blues striker has been cast aside since Thomas Tuchel was appointed to replace Frank Lampard last season, with the England international being handed just three starts in the Premier League under the German manager.
Jones offered a fresh claim on what the future of Tammy Abraham looks like on The Done Deal Show.
“Tammy wants to leave, he wants to join West Ham; West Ham at the moment can’t afford £40 million to sign him.
“That’s why Tammy’s being mentioned in deals like [Erling] Haaland because obviously, it would help Dortmund to take him and fill that void.
“But the player would prefer to stay in London, and West Ham’s a pretty good fit for him, to be honest.”
TIF thoughts on Abraham wanting West Ham…
It’s a move that would appear to make sense for both parties, as the Hammers are in desperate need of a striker this summer and Abraham is desperate to leave Chelsea – but there is a £40 million stumbling block in the way and that is without West Ham splashing out on any other players.
Abraham has proved himself in the Premier League having netted 26 times in 89 appearances during his time with Chelsea and a loan spell with Swansea City and it’s likely that Abraham may be tempted to link up with Moyes having seen how the manager helped to get Jesse Lingard’s career back on track last season.
