Dean Windass has exclusively told This is Futbol that he thinks West Ham are nailed on to sign Danny Ings.

The Southampton striker, who’s been linked with Manchester City and Tottenham, has now entered the final 12 months of his contract on the south coast, which means Saints are likely to lose him for nothing next summer if he doesn’t extend his deal.

Will Jesse Lingard return to West Ham this summer?

But Ings has rejected Southampton’s recent offer, and previously spoke of his desire to play in the Champions League.

And whilst West Ham are unable to offer Europe’s elite competition after narrowly missing out on the top four, David Moyes’ side qualified for the Europa League.

Their sixth-place finish was enough to see them through straight to the group stages, which means another six games are guaranteed for the Hammers.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

But with the injury-prone Michail Antonio as their only recognised striker, adding another striker is surely top of Moyes’ summer wish-list.

And Windass told This is Futbol that Ings could be the man to solve their problems up front:

“I don’t think he will go to Tottenham, but I think he’s nailed on for West Ham. Antonio is still there, but you’ve got to have cover.

“I think that David Moyes knows that he won’t want to wait another year, he’s got European football now, so I think that Danny Ings would be a great fit for West Ham.”
