Football journalist Dean Jones has been speaking on the latest edition of The Football Terrace’s The Done Deal Show to discuss potential summer transfer moves.

The transfer insider discussed a potential option for Tottenham Hotspur this summer in the shape of AC Milan’s Franck Kessie.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a possible move for the Ivorian midfielder, with the 24-year-old down to the last year on his contract with the Italian giants.

It is reported Tottenham’s interest in the £49.5m-rated midfielder is ‘very strong‘ and the north Londoners may make a move for Kessie if they truly believe he is looking for a new venture.

Discussing the midfielder’s future with AC Milan amid the Spurs speculation, Jones had the following to say.

“One interesting one that I’ve heard is that they want a midfielder. And they’ve started to look into Franck Kessie at AC Milan.

“Now, this is a player that had a fantastic season last year for Milan, and only has one year left of his contract. And so far, Milan haven’t been able to come to an agreement on the terms of a new one.”

TIF Thoughts on a potential Spurs switch…

Kessie impressed for Milan in the 2020/21 Serie A campaign, which saw the Ivorian rack up 13 goals and six assists in the league alone (via Transfermarkt).

With these sorts of numbers to his name, he certainly would offer a greater midfield goal threat than what Spurs currently have in their squad, but it could put the future of certain individuals under scrutiny if he was to join the north London side.

A possible move could bring question marks over the future of youngster Oliver Skipp, who recently returned to the Lilywhites this summer after a season-long loan at Norwich City, so it remains to be seen whether Spurs are prepared to take that kind of risk.
