Fabrizio Romano has featured on Chris Cowlin’s latest YouTube video to discuss all things Tottenham Hotspur during this summer’s transfer window.

One name which was discussed was reported Spurs transfer target Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Japanese centre-back is currently playing his football out in Serie A with Bologna, and it is believed Spurs have already submitted a bid in the region of €18m (£15.4m) for the 22-year-old.

Tomiyasu joined the Italian outfit in 2019 for a fee believed to be worth £6.3m from Belgian side Sint-Truiden (via Transfermarkt).

On the topic of a potential summer switch for the Japanese international this summer, Romano had the following to say.

“They offered €18m – add-ons included for Tomiyasu. Bologna want €20m guaranteed, so they are not so far from signing him.

“Tomiyasu would love to join Tottenham. He also had a potential opportunity with Atalanta, but he wants to go to Tottenham to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League and such a club is perfect for him.”

TIF Thoughts on a potential Tomiyasu switch…

It has already been reported that Spurs are looking to bring in two centre-backs this summer, with Toby Alderweireld also believed to have told the club he is looking to leave.

Spurs have also been linked with names such as Milan Skriniar and Jules Kounde, who would both prove much more expensive options, according to reports.

However, we question what the potential arrival of Tomiyasu would mean for Joe Rodon, who did not feature consistently in the 2020/21 campaign for the Lilywhites. That said, changes are perhaps to be expected with the club now under new management.
