Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his latest Twitch stream about all things transfer related.

One topic of discussion was Tottenham’s approach to this summer’s transfer window with Nuno Espirito Santo recently being announced as their new manager.

Could Takehiro Tomiyasu make a good signing for Spurs?

A name that has been linked by Romano in the past with a potential summer switch to Spurs is Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The £18m-rated ace made 31 appearances for Bologna in Serie A during the 2020/21 season in which he was able to add two goals to his name (via Transfermarkt).

And the Italian journalist provided an update on the Japanese star’s future with the Serie A outfit, amid speculation regarding a potential switch to London.

He said: “Talking about centre-backs and potential right-backs – because he can play in both positions. We are talking about Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna because they [Tottenham] made a bid – £18m.

“So an interesting bid, add-ons included. Bologna want around £20m, but he is still on the list for Fabio Paratici for Tottenham, so we will see.

“It’s good news, I think he’s leaving the club.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

It has been well reported that Spurs are looking to overhaul their defence this summer following a 2020/21 campaign filled with defensive issues.

Veteran defender Toby Alderweireld has reportedly told the north London club he will be looking to leave the Lilywhites this summer with a potential move back to Belgium a possibility.

Tomiyasu is still a young player at just 22 years old, however, we wonder what his potential arrival would mean for Joe Rodon, with speculation surrounding his own Spurs future – and whether Bologna’s asking price, as revealed by Romano, will put the club off.
