A whole host of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted negatively on Twitter to Nuno Espirito Santo’s comments on transfer business.

Spurs are still yet to make their first signing of the summer and are also still yet to offload some of the players touted to move on, such as Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko.

Do you think Tottenham will sign Aouar?

Yes, we have a chance

Yes, we have a chance

No, we don't have a chance

No, we don't have a chance

Espirito Santo will be evaluating his squad which he has inherited from Jose Mourinho as he plans to make moves in the transfer market, with Houssem Aouar from Lyon now a reported target.

During his first press conference since succeeding Mourinho, the former Wolves boss said (as per Football.london): “We are aware there’s a lot of work to be done, but at the same time it’s hard work because to improve our squad, the quality we have, the talent we have, is not easy, and we have to find the right players who can help us, but it’s been good work.”

A lot of Spurs fans are unhappy on Twitter with the way their new manager has spoken about the club’s transfer business.

What have these Tottenham fans been saying?

“Literally every player we have been linked to is an improvement on the quality of Dier, Sanchez, Sissoko and Winks”

@Terry01711833

“It really isn’t hard to improve this quality”

@maxspurslord1

“This is so worrying… I understand why he’s saying it but I pray to god he doesn’t believe it”

@carl_collen

Hard work to improve the quality we have brainwashed already by Levy”

@Jdickinson108

“Honestly if I see Eric Dier playing CB v City. I’m selling my season ticket, no qualms.”

@Jimmyfrankie_

“The only quality we have is Son & Kane. The rest are average at best. That statement doesn’t feel me with much optimism.”

@mavis1510

“Same script they gave Poch”

@TestyourWill

After finishing seventh and below the likes of West Ham United and Leicester City, hearing it will be difficult to improve on the quality they already have is unlikely to have filled Spurs fans with much joy.
