Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking about the north London club’s pre-season preparations in his latest YouTube video

One player which Gold spoke of in particular was Dele Alli, with the English midfielder already back at training after not making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championship.

Will Dele find form under Nuno?

No

Dele Alli played in Tottenham’s first pre-season friendly against Leyton Orient at the weekend, in which he got 65 minutes of football under his belt.

The 25-year-old will be hoping for a fresh start under Nuno Espirito Santo after struggling to find form and game time under the previous boss, Jose Mourinho (via Transfermarkt).

Discussing Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn’s start to life under the new regime, Gold had the following to say on the matter.

“I’m told in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first two weeks, those two players have been probably the most eye-catching in terms of how good their training has been. So that was quite interesting.

“They actually were probably the two of the quieter players in terms of making an impact on the game [v Leyton Orient] on the day, but they’ve apparently been really catching his eye and training very hard.”

TIF Thoughts on Dele’s future…

We feel this is a huge season ahead for Dele Alli if he is to prolong his time at Tottenham after what has been a couple of difficult seasons for the midfielder.

The 25-year-old has not hit a double-figure goal return in the Premier League since the 2016/17 season under Mauricio Pochettino (via Transfermarkt).

However, Dele still has three years remaining on his contract at Spurs, so the club may not be in a rush to give up on the player given they could still get a decent fee for him come this time next year.
