on Twitter have been reacting to the latest detail to emerge concerning Toby Alderweireld’s recent exit from the north London club.

This comes after journalist Jonathan Veal shared a post on his Twitter page revealing that the fee that the Lilywhites received for Alderweireld’s recent move to Al-Duhail, is “not as big as initially thought” and more around the €5m (£4.2m) mark.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Tottenham fans, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest development.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say in response to this detail about Alderweireld’s reported transfer fee?

“Wow ok then”

“The bad news keeps on coming, I thought when they said it’ll be busy it’d be good stuff”

“So suddenly our transfer strategy isn’t great, it’s back to shambolic”

“Paratici is a fraud idc”

“Why did we sell him for 5m..joke of a club and left with Dier and Sanchez”

“What on EARTH”

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though these Spurs fans are not particularly pleased to hear that the club have reportedly only picked up such a small fee for the defender after it was initially reported that they would be getting £13 million, which is understandable.

Do you think Spurs should have kept this summer?

However, with the Belgian apparently earning £80k-per-week at Tottenham (according to Spotrac), at least the club will have freed up some extra funds by taking off their wage bill.

Moving forward, given how made a total of 35 appearances for the Lilywhites across all competitions last season, it would make sense, in our view, for the club to now bring in a new centre-back to directly replace the Belgian.
