Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims about one of their transfer targets, Cristian Romero.

Despite having the sixth-best defensive record in the league last season with only 45 goals conceded, the defence is still seen as a major problem for Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and it would appear as if the new regime are taking steps to improve it with moves for Atalanta duo Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini.

Spurs have had quite a few odd players over the years, but can you remember them? Here is the first one, who is this former Tottenham man?

Now, a more recent report from The Athletic is claiming that Romero, fresh off the back of winning Copa America with Argentina, is ‘Paratici’s first-choice target for what is one of Spurs’ priority areas this window’.

The news about Romero being the club’s priority was relayed to fans by @TheSpursExpress, where fans seemed to be blown away by the idea, with many of them seemingly very impressed that the club were in a position to be making moves like this:

“What really, REALLY frustrates me the most is that by paying slightly more (Atalanta’s valuation) for Romero you’re getting one of the very top CBs around currently thus improving our defence considerably. This is the type of transfer that transforms a club. Just do it!”

“A DOF with ambition. Best DOF on the planet and he’s at the Lane”
“Make it happen”
“PLEAAASSSEEEEE”
“As he should be”
“If Paratici pulls this off”
“Need to get him at all costs. Only problem would be if the report was true that he didn’t want to come”

Let’s just hope that he’s able to live up to his hype if he does end up signing, otherwise there could be a bunch of fans that are going to be left very disappointed.
