On Thursday night, The Sun published an exclusive suggesting Spurs had struck a deal with Manchester City for a £160m deal which would see Kane leave his boyhood club.
Will Kane leave Spurs this summer?
However, Ornstein spoke on Sky Sports (via Football Daily) to suggest the claims coming from The Sun were not the case and both sides of the reported deal have been left surprised at what had been published.
The reported deal would see Kane the Premier League’s top-earning player on £400k-per-week, however, it is believed Tottenham’s stance on Kane remains the same as it did at the beginning of the market.
“That’s not my information, and from speaking to people at both clubs, it has taken them a little bit by surprise.
“I don’t think there’s a U-turn in Daniel Levy’s mind. If Manchester City get to the sort of level that he would expect, which we thought to be around £150m – this report says £160m – then there’s potentially a conversation to be had.
“But I’m not sure Manchester City are prepared to go to that level.”
TIF Thoughts on Kane’s future…
Kane is currently enjoying a well-earned break from football following his efforts in England’s European Championship campaign this summer.
It has been reported Kane is looking to move this summer, which makes us question whether this is his entourage’s doing to try and push forward a potential move.
The news will have certainly came as a surprise to many given the north London club’s stance has been made clear from the beginning of the window.
Tottenham appear to have the upper hand in the deal, with the star still having three years remaining on his current deal, but it will be interesting to see just how far Kane is willing to go to push a possible exit.
