Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss all things transfer-related.

The north London side are reported to be looking at bringing in two new centre-backs this summer, with Toby Alderweireld departing for Qatari side Al-Duhail.

Will Spurs finish in the top four this season?

It is also believed Tottenham are open to offers for their Colombian centre-back Davinson Sanchez this summer as they look to overhaul their defence.

Spurs have been heavily linked with Atalanta and Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero, with talks ongoing between the two clubs over a potential deal.

Discussing other possible transfer targets for Spurs at centre-back, Gold had the following to say.

“The other players that I know they’ve got an interest in [Maxence] Lacroix at Wolfsburg, [Nikola] Milenkovic at Fiorentina and [Milan] Skriniar we know at Inter is obviously someone that the club looked at.

“They certainly were looking at Joachim Andersen, but it looks like while they’ve kind of gone off for [Cristian] Romero, he’s maybe slipped down the list slowly and looks like Crystal Palace are going to get him.”

TIF Thoughts on Tottenham’s defensive changes…

Spurs suffered defensive issues throughout the 2020/21 campaign which ultimately led to an underwhelming seventh-place finish in the Premier League.

However, the introduction of Fabio Paratici has brought the belief there will be big changes made in defence ahead of the upcoming 2021/22 season.

The potential introduction of Romero could be huge for the Lilywhites, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Ruben Dias showing how a top-class centre-back can transform a team.

Spurs fans will be hoping the possible signing of the Argentine could work in a similar way, but we feel they would still need to add another good quality centre-back and right-back to their squad.
