The 25-year-old has been linked with a potential move away from north London earlier this year, with La Liga side said to be interested in signing the Hemel Hempstead-born midfielder.

Winks has been at Spurs throughout his time a professional, however, his future seems in doubt following a season of inconsistent game time with the Lilywhites.

Speaking on the £18m-rated ace’s future, Gold had the following to say.

“I understand the club are open to offers for either Moussa Sissoko or Harry Winks.

“Harry Winks is an interesting one. Up to this point, he has certainly, I’m led to believe, he has signalled his intent to stay at the club.

“He’d like to stay and fight for his place under [Nuno] Espirito Santo.”

“It may be that you’re going have a season where you may not get time you want. Whereas, if you go to Villa or Everton or another club, you may find yourself a week-in-week-out player.

“Ahead of the World Cup, which obviously comes a little bit sooner not being a summer one, it may be something that benefits you more than anything.

“So yeah, keep an eye on the Winks situation, it will be interesting to see which way that goes.”

TIF Thoughts on Winks’ future…

Winks really struggled to work his way into the Spurs side throughout the 2020/21 Premier campaign with just 15 appearances to his name (via Transfermarkt).

With the return of after his impressive loan spell out at City, it will be interesting to see how much game time Winks would be likely to get under Espirito Santo.

Having played every minute in last season’s Premier campaign, we think it is unlikely Winks will take Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s spot in the team.

Meanwhile, it is reported Skipp will receive plenty of game time under the new boss, which brings up the question of whether Winks is better off seeking regular first-team football elsewhere.
